MAN RUSHING TO NOWDOC FORCED TO SLOW DOWN FOR SPEED VANS

first_imgA man rushing to NowDoc with his sick daughter was forced to slow down to avoid speed vans on the outskirts of Carndonagh. The incident has led local councillor Ciaran McLaughlin to call for a review of speed cameras across Inishowen. The Buncrana Town Councillor revealed the man was driving at Molly’s Brae outside Carn but because he was going downhill at a 60kmp zone, he was forced to brake when he saw the speed van. Cllr McLaughlin said “Questions need to be asked. Is this a sneaky place for a speed van?“How many accidents have occurred at this spot? Is this just a money making scheme?”He added that motorists have a right to know whether local speedcameras are justified, are they making the roads safer or are they just raising money? He referred to an RTE news report in July of this year which claimed that the Xavier McAuliffe consortium, the speed vans operators, made €48,000 profit per week with the speed van cameras.“I will be bringing this to the attention of my Sinn Fein colleagueDeputy Padraig MacLochlainn as I believe questions have to be asked,” he said. MAN RUSHING TO NOWDOC FORCED TO SLOW DOWN FOR SPEED VANS was last modified: September 17th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:CarndonghCllr Ciaran McLaughlinNowDocspeed vanslast_img read more
